Two separate boat crashes just miles apart at the Lake of the Ozarks

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to two different boat crashes at the Gravois Arm at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday.

The first crash happened at 11:10 a.m. at mile marker 5.5.

Troopers said a boat hit another boat from the rear side. The passenger, 73-year-old Ronald Heffkamp, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The second crash happened at mile marker 3 around 5 p.m.

According to the crash report, Cole McFarland, 29, crashed into a dock after the boat experienced mechanical problems causing the throttle to stick. McFarland was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
