Several downtown Columbia night clubs violate fire codes

The Columbia Fire Department released the results of fire code compliance checks at several downtown night clubs on Thursday afternoon.

The department conducted the checks on Sept. 24 and Oct. 21 between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.

No violations were reported at the following locations on Sept. 24:

Willie’s at 1109 East Broadway Penguin Bar at 1025 East Broadway Roxy’s at 1025 East Broadway On The Rock’s at 1011 East Broadway Shiloh at 402 East Broadway Harpo’s at 29 South 10th Street 10 Below at 29 South 10th Street Tonic at 122 South 9th Street Shakespeare’s at 225 South 9th Street 9th Street Public House at 36 North 9th Street Room 38 at North 8th Street

Fire violations were reported at the following locations on Sept. 24:

FieldHouse at 1107 East Broadway – Required exit blocked Campus Bar at 304 South 9th Street – Required exit blocked Shot Bar at 100 South 9th Street – Required exit blocked Nash Vegas at 929 East Broadway – Required exit block and additional required exit locked

No violations were reported at the following locations on Oct. 21:

The Roof at 1111 East Broadway Willie’s at 1109 East Broadway Roxy’s at 1025 East Broadway On The Rock’s at 1011 East Broadway 10 Below at 29 South 10th Street.

Fire violations were reported at the following locations on Oct. 21:

FieldHouse at 1107 East Broadway – Required exit blocked Nash Vegas at 929 East Broadway – Required exit blocked Shot Bar at 100 South 9th Street – Required exit blocked and over allowed capacity for occupants Tonic at 122 South 9th Street – Required exit blocked My House at 119 South 7th Street – Tent erected and occupied without permit

ABC 17 News reached out to several of the night clubs with reported violations.

So far, the Shot Bar is the only one to respond. They said a trash can and some boxes sticking out of a walkway blocked a door and was immediately fixed.

The fire department also told ABC 17 News the violations were addressed with representatives from the night clubs when they were observed.
