Mizzou Homecoming football attendance down

Attendance at this year’s Mizzou Homecoming football game was down by almost 20,000 fans from last year. The game against Middle Tennessee had a total of 52,351 people in the stadium. Last year’s game against the Florida Gators had a crowd of 70,767 in attendance. In 2014, the game against Vanderbilt had 65,264 in attendance. In 2013, the homecoming game against South Carolina brought a capacity crowd to the stadium, at 67,124. This weekend’s homecoming game had the lowest attendance in the last four years. Despite the lower attendance, the city had a number of visitors. ABC 17 News reached out the the Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau who said, on estimate, about 90% of all hotel rooms in the city were full. The bureau did say that percentage could be a bit higher as some people may have made last minute reservations. The 2016 Mizzou football season, so far, has also seen lower attendance overall compared to the last 4 years.
