Costs lowered for several Boone County residents to connect to sewer line
Residents on East Hinton Road will soon be paying less to connect to the county’s sewer line.
In a story ABC 17 News has been following, several Boone County residents brought their concerns to the Boone County Regional Sewer District at it’s Board of Directors meeting in Columbia, after having to pay, $10,655 each to build and connect their homes to a sewer main along East Hinton Road.
The board agreed Tuesday night to split the cost six ways to help residents, lowering the cost by approximately $2,000.
Andy Faup & Kathy Roberts were each violating county health department codes by not connecting to the county’s sewer line.
Faup told ABC 17 News Tuesday night that the board’s decision was a step in the right direction, but much more still needs to be done.
Roberts expressed to ABC 17 News how important the boards decision was Tuesday night. “It was a matter of possibly losing my home,” Roberts said, ” I don’t have enough money to connect to the sewer line. The county health department told me if I didn’t connect , they would start the eviction process.”
Roberts has started a gofundme page to try and help cover the costs.
