Police: driver falls asleep, drives into apartment building

A driver fell asleep at the wheel and drove i nto an apartment building, Jefferson City police say.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. Saturday at 108 Ventura Ave. According to police, the driver was going north on Ventura Avenue w hen he fell asleep. Police say his car left the roadway, hit and went over the curb, crossed the parking lot, before finally hitting the building.

The car went through the front of one apartment unit.

There were no injuries from the crash. The building owner and a City of Jefferson code officer inspected the damage. Police say the unit the car hit was not occupied.

The car and building suffered damage from the crash.
