Highway Patrol identifies two arrested after chase ends at Lake of the Woods

UPDATE 10/7: A sergeant with the Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the two men arrested in connection to a chase Thursday as 39-year-old William Vinson and 38-year-old Tramell Blocker.

An arrest report from the Highway Patrol shows Blocker was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and receiving stolen property. He was charged Friday with resisting arrest.

Vinson was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of a crash, resisting arrest, assault, careless and imprudent driving, and speeding. The arrest report indicates Vinson was driving 130 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. As of Friday evening, he hasn’t been formally charged, but has bonded out of the Boone County Jail.

According to online court records, Vinson had an order of protection placed against him in July.

Blocker has also had recent encounters with law enforcement. He was placed on probation for five years in May 2016 for a stealing charge. On September 17, he was charged in Boone County with receiving stolen property.

ORIGINAL: Two men were taken into custody Thursday afternoon following a high speed chase through Audrain and Boone County.

According to Corporal Jon Cluver with the Missouri State Highway Patrol the chase began in Mexico with a shoplifting report at the WalMart. Troopers spotted the suspect car on Highway 54 W and tried to pull it over.

The car speed off down the highway and a chase began. The Highway Patrol set up spike strips along Highway 54 at Kingdom City. Troopers said the car hit the spikes and continued to drive onto I-70.

A helicopter from the Highway Patrol later joined the pursuit at Kingdom City.

The suspects ended up crashing after pulling off on the Lake of the Woods ramp. The passenger from the car ran into a nearby gas station and was arrested. The driver was eventually arrested after running into a Super 8 hotel, where ABC 17 News saw law enforcement surrounding the building with their rifles drawn.

Both men were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries from the crash. The driver of the other car was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

ABC 17 News is working to learn the names of the two men taken into custody.
