Storms Tuesday night

A line of showers and t-storms will move through Mid-Missouri Tuesday night, ahead of a slow moving cold front in Kansas.

Severe storms are unlikely but a few stronger storms with wind gusts up to 50 mph and heavy rain are possible in our western counties of Chariton, Saline, Pettis and Benton county as the line moves in after 10 PM. The main line of storms is expected to approach HWY 65 from 11 PM to midnight and track to the east to near HWY 63 from 2-4 AM. As the line moves east, storms are expected to weaken.

This line of showers and storms will be east of HWY 63 by 7 AM and out of Mid-Missouri completely by mid-morning, leaving us with a warm, partly cloudy afternoon with high temperatures in the lower 80s.

Rainfall amounts of a tenth to half inch are more likely with these storms but areas which get under stronger storms could pick up three quarters of an inch of rain.
