City of Jefferson continues downtown revitalization efforts
Jefferson City council members voted to designate the newly renovated house at 304 Marshall St. as surplus and place it on the market.
“This was made possible by federal funding through the neighborhood stabilization program,” said Jayme Abbott, with Jefferson City Planning and Protective Services.
While the 304 Marshall renovation represents the end of federal “stabilization” funds, Abbott says the city continues to enforce codes and offer tax incentives to potential developers.
Matt Holland, with H&H Property Management, is working to refurbish a duplex in the 600 block of East Capitol Avenue.
The company, along with the city, is placing a priority on maintaining the history facade of the neighborhood.
“What we’re trying to do is maintain the character of the area,” Holland said. “There are a lot of historic buildings around here and there’s a lot of interesting architecture. We’re just doing our part to preserve some of it.”
