Two motorcyclists taken to hospital after crash in Sturgeon

The Highway Patrol and the Boone County Fire Protection District responded to a crash on Highway 22 in Sturgeon Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened near North Fairgrounds Road around 1:30 p.m. According to the crash report, the incident involved a group of three motorcyclists traveling east on the highway.

Troopers said two bikers were slowing down to turn when the third biker rear ended one of the motorcycles. Both Tyler Swetnam, 32, and Robert Canaday, 44, were thrown from their motorcycles.

Swetnam was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Canaday was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The third motorcyclists wasn’t hurt.
