Jefferson City man taken to the hospital after being hit by a car

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 50/63 and Missouri Blvd. Sunday afternoon for reports of a person being hit by a car.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m.

Responders found Kenyon Reed, 55, lying on the ground bleeding from his head. Reed was taken to a local hospital and then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Witnesses told police a Chevy Malibu, driven by Geneva Parthenopoulos, 34, was traveling east on Highway 50/63 with a green light at the intersection when Reed stepped into the road and was hit.

The Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
