One hospitalized after motorcycle crash

One person was taken to the hospital after a crash in Columbia Friday evening.

The crash happened at Rangeline Street and Brown School Road at 6:30 p.m.

According to police, the crash happened when a 16-year-old girl driving an SUV tried to turn left on a flashing yellow arrow and failed to see a motorcycle traveling south.

The two collided and the driver of the motorcycle was thrown from his bike. The 24-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Traffic was backed up for a short period while crews worked the scene. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

As of Saturday evening, the motorcyclist, Austin Bopp, was still in the hospital in critical condition.
