UPDATE: Lincoln University to address mold issue in rooms with higher counts

UPDATE 4:00 p.m.: Lincoln University has released a statement about the mold tested in the dorms on Thursday.

According to Lincoln University officials, they reached out to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The DHSS states that there are 150,000 different types of mold, and that the only kind that threatens health is airborne mold.

Lincoln University stated that they will address the rooms that have higher counts of mold.

ABC 17 News is following the story for any updates that are released.

ORIGINAL STORY: Cole County Health Department officials said they’ve reached out to Lincoln University after reports of mold in some dorm rooms.

Tuesday, the Health Department told ABC 17 News it does not monitor dorm inspections, but did reach out to the school to officer assistance. The university declined because it’s contacted an outside firm.

On Monday, ABC 17 News spoke with a parent who claims her daughter and other students got sick from mold at Dawson Hall.

ABC 17 News reached out to Lincoln University Tuesday, but did not receive a response.
