UPDATE: Murder suspect’s case transferred to St. Louis City

UPDATE 9/16: It has been confirmed by officials that Serrano’s case will be transferred to St. Louis City.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man accused five murders, including one in mid-Missouri, appeared in Montgomery County court Wednesday.

Lawyers for Pablo Serrano asked the judge to move the case to St. Louis County, due to the higher number of Hispanics there. The state wants it moved to St. Charles County, which is closer to the victim’s family.

The defense also filed for Serrano to get permission to go to his mother’s memorial service in Mexico. Serrano is an illegal immigrant who has already been deported in the past.

A judge did not give a time frame on when he will issue a ruling.
