Police: driver admits he was high on K2 before hitting tree

UPDATE 9/15: Four people were in a car when it ran off the road and hit a tree on Powell Drive Wednesday. One passenger was hospitalized.

The driver, Matthew White, was arrested for second-degree assault. White admitted he was under the influence of synthetic marijuana, commonly known as K2. His bond was set at $10,000.

ORIGINAL 9/14: Emergency crews responded to a car that crashed into a tree Wednesday evening.

The crash happened just after 5:00 p.m. with the car appearing to have run off Vandiver Drive and stopping on the edge of Powell Drive.
