Hearing set for mother accused of killing baby

A hearing is set for a Miller County mother accused of killing her child.

Emily Usnick, 39, is scheduled to appear in Johnson County court for a suppression hearing October 20. A suppression hearing is where both sides can argue about whether or not evidence against a defendant should be thrown out because the defendant’s constitutional rights were violated.

Usnick is charged with second-degree murder, endangering the welfare of a child, drug possession and manufacturing.

Investigators believe Usnick killed her newborn child back in 2009.
