Route F back open after head-on crash

Update 9/1- Troopers have released the names of those involved the head on crash that shut down Route F Wednesday night.

The Highway Patrol said 17-year-old Nicholas Pudney was trying to pass another car and hit it head-on.

Pudney was taken to the hospital in serious condition by a helicopter.

A passenger in the other vehicle, 14-year-old Alyson Albright was taken to the hospital in moderate condition.

Original 9/31-Route F was reopened just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday night after a head-on crash closed the road for several hours.

The crash happened near Bourbon Road around 7:40 p.m.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper on scene told ABC 17 News the crash happened when a car tried to pass another car, and struck a vehicle going the opposite direction.

Names and ages have not been released, but ABC 17 News was told one car was carrying teens. Its driver was life-flighted to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle are also being treated with moderate and minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol said the crash happened near a hill crest, and speculated it may have been difficult to see for the driver.
