Preliminary results show bodies found in Camden County fire were homicide victims

Preliminary autopsy results show two bodies investigators found in a burning home Monday were homicide victims.

The Camden County Sheriff’s Department says forensic pathologists with Southwest Forensics did an autopsy on the two bodies yesterday.

You’ll recall we told you investigators discovered the victims in a burned trailer off Floyds Road Monday morning. That’s just south of the Camdenton city limits.

The department says preliminary results of the autopsy confirm both of the bodies were victims of homicide prior to the fire.

Authorities say the identity of the victims can not be confirmed until DNA samples are compared to presumed family members. Camden County detectives say they are working with the families of the two presumed victims in an effort to speed up that process.

Camden County authorities say the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed the fire as arson. They say there was evidence in the fire scene that an accelerant was used.

Right now, authorities say there is no suspect in custody, but say they are still investigating the double homicide.
