Deputies call off search for trespassing suspect northeast of Columbia

Authorities were called to a home in the 1400 block of West Wilcox Road Friday afternoon for reports of a possible burglary.

Lt. Lance Robbins with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said a homeowner returned home and saw their door was open. They told deputies they saw a man standing outside with their power washer. The man then took off running into the woods.

Boone County Deputies set up a perimeter with their rifles drawn and searched the woods to look for the man. The Columbia Police Department brought in it’s K9 to assist the search, but they were unable to find the man.

Robbins said the suspect is described as a white man with a thin build who was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He said they don’t believe the man was armed with a weapon.
