School bus goes off road trying to avoid second vehicle

UPDATE: Boone County Sheriff’s Department say a kid was riding a bicycle at the time a school bus went off St. Charles Road Tuesday afternoon.

Sheriff deputies on scene say witnesses saw a kid riding a bike, going the opposite direction. That’s when the vehicle swerved to the opposite lane, causing the school bus to go off the road.

The Sheriff’s Department says they weren’t able to make contact with the driver or the cyclist because they weren’t present at the scene.

At this time the driver or the cyclist have not been ticketed. Sheriff’s Department says no investigation will be conducted unless they find evidence that negligence was done.

ORIGINAL: ABC 17 News confirmed a bus went off St. Charles Road Tuesday afternoon after swerving to avoid another vehicle.

The incident happened near Battle High School on Tuesday afternoon. District officials report the bus driver swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle which was apparently trying to get around a cyclist.

No one was hurt. Other buses were called went to the scene along with parents to help pick up students on their way home.
