Work starts on multi-million dollar baseball facility

Work has started on a new multi-million dollar baseball facility in Camden County.

Ballpark Development, LLC, announced Tuesday they have broken ground on the facility near downtown Camdenton.

The privately owned company told ABC 17 News they will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 21 at 11 a.m.

“Ballparks of the Ozarks will be a great benefit to the 2nd District and Macks Creek in particular,” said Camden County 2nd District Commissioner Cliff Luber.

The Ballparks of the Ozarks will be able to host both three-day and week long tournaments for teams from around the country.

The facility will include age appropriate fields, pitching bullpens, batting cages, LED lighting and seating for fans.

Ballparks of the Ozarks CEO Jeff Vernetti said, “We are thrilled for the opportunity to bring over 100 jobs and thousands of families to the Lake area annually.”

The facility is on 239 acres and is located off Highway 54 near Highway J.

Ballparks of the Ozarks is set to open in 2017.
