Documents detail allegations against suspects in multi-county search
Court documents ABC 17 News obtained Monday detail accusations by Pike County authorities against three people who led law enforcement on a search in several counties.
Michael E. Miller and Jessica L. Aschoff have been charged in Pike County related to the initial crimes last week; Ellen C. Singleton was also detained, but hasn’t been charged as of Monday afternoon.
According to the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, on August 17 at around 9:30 a.m., deputies got a call about someone trying to steal a lawn mower from a shed. The suspect was later identified as Miller; the homeowner said Miller pointed a gun at him, he pulled his own gun out, and the two exchanged gunfire. One of Miller’s shots hit the home, while one of the homeowner’s shots hit Miller’s vehicle. Deputies said Miller and the two women with him, identified by deputies as Aschoff and Singleton, then left the area.
Authorities found and arrested Singleton in Fulton later Wednesday evening. Police in Mexico say Miller and Aschoff were later involved in a standoff there, which ended with no arrests.
The pair was then spotted in Centralia on Thursday, August 18. That sighting prompted schools in the community to go on lockdown for two hours.
Police eventually found and arrested Miller and Aschoff in Columbia on Saturday, August 20.
Miller has been charged in Pike County with burglary, assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Aschoff and Singleton have been charged with burglary.
