Camdenton man charged in armed robbery
Bradley Smith, 35, of Camdenton, was charged Wednesday with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery and armed criminal action.
Court documents show Smith is connected to the armed robbery of the Puff N Snuff store at 73 McCrory Drive in Camdenton on Aug. 10.
Two women who worked at the store said a man entered the business around 7:30 p.m. as they were preparing to close. He reportedly aimed a gun at one of the workers and demanded money from the cash register.
The suspect then allegedly told the women to get on the floor and count to 100. Once they reached 20, the women called the police.
Investigators were tipped off to Smith after the workers told them they recognized his voice and glasses. The manager of the store also noticed the suspect had a limp, similar to one Smith was known for.
Deputies made contact with Smith later that night and took him into custody. He allowed investigators to search his home, however, they were unable to find any evidence of the robbery or clothing that matched their suspect description.
Smith was later released after being questioned.
Investigators received security camera footage from a nearby business the next day. It showed a car leaving Puff N Snuff around 7:33 p.m. on westbound Highway 54.
The vehicle in the video matched the same one parked in the driveway of Smith’s residence from the previous day.
Smith was arrested by Camden County deputies at his home Tuesday afternoon.
