Mizzou running back suspended indefinitely following arrest
Mizzou running back Trevon Walters is suspended indefinitely by the football program following his arrest on Friday, according to a team spokesperson.
“We’re aware of his situation, and he’s been suspended indefinitely as we work to learn more about it,” MU football spokesman Chad Moller said in a text message.
The Columbia Police Department arrested Walters on felony suspicion of stealing and two counts of misdemeanor fraudulent use of a credit device. Walters wasreleased on $5,500 bond, according to the Boone CountySheriff’s Department’s arrest log.
CPD says officers were dispatched to the1300 block of Paris Road in reference to a burglary on July 18, 2016. The investigation revealed on July 17, Walters allegedly stole a debit card from a 19-year-old male victim and made multiple unauthorized transactions. Officers reviewed video surveillance from a business where a transaction occurred and identified Trevon Walters as the subject using the debit card.Walters turned himself in on Friday.
Walters is a redshirt sophomore for Mizzou. He missed all of last season rehabbing a torn ACL, which he suffered during the Spring of 2015.
This is Mizzou’s second football arrest of the offseason. Defensive lineman Terry Beckner Jr. was arrested in January on suspicion of misdemeanor marijuana possession.
