Fugitive arrested after standoff

Audrain County sheriff’s deputies on Friday night arrested 38-year-old Shane Kerpash for an active probation and parole violation warrant out for him in Osage County.

Deputies said he had fled from them earlier in the day, was considered armed and dangerous, and had made violent threats toward law enforcement officers attempting to arrest him.

A deputy saw Kerpash’s car at a Value Inn Motel on South Clark Street in Mexico, Missouri. More law enforcement officers arrived and at about 5 a.m. deputies began to call out for Kerpash to surrender.

He came out of his motel room about 10 a.m.Deputies also arrested 31-year-old Jennifer Payne.

Audrain County deputies searched the room and, as a result, the two are facing drug charges as well as counts of hindering prosecution, resisting arrest and identity theft.
