Fire burns four acres of crops near Hallsville

Fire officials said it’s unclear what started an outside fire in the 6800 block of Schooler Road Saturday afternoon.

The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to the scene around 1:45 p.m.

Crews blocked off part of Schooler Road while they worked to put out the fire. Officials said the fire burned about four acres of the bean plant crop.

The property owner tells ABC 17 he’s estimating a $1,200 loss from the fire.
