Voters decide Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State and State Treasurer nominations

Russ Carnahan won the Democratic nomination for Missouri Lieutenant Governor. The former U.S. Congressman beat both of his opponents, Winston Apple and Tommie Pierson Sr. by close to 190,000 votes.

On the Republican side, Senator Mike Parson defeated Attorney Bev Randles and AC Dienoff for Lieutenant Governor.

Additionally, Robin Smith has won the Democratic nomination for Missouri Secretary of State. The former St. Louis news reporter and anchor beat both of her opponents, Bill Clinton Young and MD Rabbi Alam, by over 100,000 votes.

Meanwhile, Jay Ashcroft has won the Republican nomination for Missouri Secretary of State. He beat both of his opponents, Will Kraus and Roi Chinn, by over 150,000 votes.

The State Treasurer position is up for grabs this fall as Clint Zweifel (D) has reached his term limit. Former state representative Judy Baker won the Democratic nomination defeating opponentPat Contreras Tuesday night.

Sen. Eric Schmitt ran unopposed for the State Treasurer position after Dan Brown dropped out of the race before Tuesday’s primary election.
