A substance spill causes accidents on the connector

The I-70, Highway 63 connector has been cleared in Columbia after a slick substance spilled across the roadway.

ABC 17 News confirmed with MoDot the substance was called “beer mash.” The mash is a pulp like substance that is leftover after the liquid beer is extracted.

Crews worked for more than five hours to clean up the road following at least three crashes. One crash involved four vehicles, but no one sustained any major injuries.

MoDot crews are still unsure as to who spilled the beer mash, but they say they have an idea as to who it might be.
