Randolph County earns ‘Work Ready’ status
American College Testing (ACT) has recognized Randolph County as a “Certified Work Ready Community.”
This national designation is given to municipalities whose education institutions place a high priority on workforce readiness.
By participating in the Certified Work Ready Communities initiative, Randolph County is:
Helping workers understand what skills are required by employers, and how to prepare themselves for success; Helping businesses effectively communicate their workforce needs to area education and workforce training programs; Providing educators with the tools needed to close the skills gap by establishing career pathways for students with stackable industry-recognized credentials; and Equipping economic development organizations with an on-demand reporting tool to promote the quality of their workforce.
Gov. Nixon was in Moberly Tuesday morning to congratulate the municipality.
“Missouri is a national leader in manufacturing growth and new business creation,” Gov. Nixon said. “The Certified Workforce Ready initiative will help communities like Randolph County attract and train the skilled workers needed to meet the demands of our growing economy. I congratulate the local economic development and education leaders here in Randolph County on earning this important designation.”
County leaders responded crediting the governor’s actions on education reform.
“We appreciate the Governor’s emphasis on helping more communities achieve work ready status, an effort that means a lot to Randolph County and the City of Moberly,” said Randolph County Presiding Commissioner John Truesdell. “This certification will allow more businesses, who are looking to expand or move to Missouri, to look at Randolph County and see an area with an available workforce, power, and a place where their needs can be addresses swiftly and efficiently.”
Jasper County, Missouri was named the first Certified Work Ready Community in the nation, and Missouri has 78 counties that are actively participating in the Certified Work Ready Community initiative and 34 fully certified counties.
