Fire tears through home in Russellville, no injuries

A fire caused serious damage to a home in Russellville Thursday, but no one was hurt.

The fire happened at a home on Brush Creek Road south of Russellville. No one was home at the time.

Crews responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m. and stayed on scene for about three hours.

The fire marshal came to investigate the cause of the fire, but was not able to determine one right away because of the severe damage to the home.

A few firefighters were treated on scene after getting extreme dehydration trying while battling the flames. Assistant Fire Chief Mitchell Ott said the afternoon’s high temperatures made it more of a challenge.

“It’s hard because you’re wearing all this bunker gear and you sweat, you sweat vigorously and you can’t get enough fluids in your body, you get overheated you get dehydrated,” Ott said.
