Man arrested following high-speed chase in mid-Missouri

A mid-Missouri man has been charged after he led Pettis County deputies on a chase.

Carl Cross, 35, of Sedalia, was arrested Saturday morning in Sedalia.

Deputies told ABC 17 News they tried to stop Cross for not having a rear license plate light on his Chevrolet Camaro.

Cross refused to stop for law enforcement, leading them on a pursuit that reached speeds exceeding 100 mph.

At northbound New York and 16th streets in Sedalia, police officers used spike strips to successfully deflate all of the tires on Cross’s vehicle except the rear passenger tire.

Deputies said Cross ran from the vehicle in the 1300 block of South New York after it went over a curb.

After a search that included the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sedalia police and Sedalia police dogs, Cross was found in a garage in the 1500 block of East 13th Street.

The person at the home said Cross did not have permission to be inside.

During a search of Cross’ Camaro, investigators found a loaded Taurus .38 special revolver, a Taser more than 1 bounce of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and close to $1,000.

Cross was charged Monday in Pettis County with felony drug possession, felony unlawful use of a weapon and felony resisting arrest.
