Man charged for driving moving truck into Columbia home

A mid-Missouri man has been charged after he drove a moving truck into a Columbia home Sunday.

Samuel Haley, 42, of Columbia, was charged Thursday in Boone County court with felony endangerment of a child, felony tampering of a vehicle and felony property damage.

Columbia police said Haley drove away from the home in the 1500 block of Native Dancer Court after he damaged the front of the house and garage. A 14 year-old girl was the only person inside at the time of the incident.

During the investigation, officers said Haley sent several harassing text messages to the homeowner.

The damaged moving truck was found on July 6 in the 2100 block Malay Drive. Investigators discovered the owner of the moving truck had not given Haley permission to use the vehicle.

Later that day, officers located and arrested Haley in the 1600 block of Native Dancer Court.

Haley is being held in the Boone County jail.

He is scheduled to appear in Boone County court for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. on August 16.
