Suspect in chase with stolen car in hospital

A woman believed to be connected to a chase involving a stolen vehicle is in a hospital under law enforcement guard.

At around 10:20 , troopers started chasing a vehicle which was reported stolen out of the Kansas City area. The chase started near the 132 mile marker in Boone County; troopers eventually stopped the pursuit, but not before calling in a Highway Patrol aircraft to help.

Another trooper saw the vehicle again at the 155 mile marker, near the exit for Routes A and Z in Callaway County. According to the highway patrol, the trooper saw the suspect vehicle pass another vehicle on the shoulder, and got into a second pursuit. During this chase, authorities put down a spike strip, which caused two of the fleeing vehicle’s tires to deflate.

At this point, the driver, a woman, allegedly ditched the vehicle in the area of Pinnacle Lake Road near High Hill in Montgomery County and, according to a witness, stole a pickup truck. Troopers found that truck abandoned a short time later. They also learned from witnesses the woman apparently broke into a home and asked someone to take her to a hospital. She is now at that hospital with some cuts and scrapes, and is under guard.

Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name or her current condition.
