Seven people hurt after crash in Cole County

Seven people got treatment for non-life-threatening injuries following a crash on Highway 54 Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2 p.m. near Sandy Hook Road. All seven victims, ranging in age from three to 36, were in one vehicle, which had crashed down a small hill in a group of trees. All had gotten out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.

One person was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for a head injury; the other six were taken to hospitals in Jefferson City for treatment.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.
