Man arrested, charged after trying to meet minor for sex

UPDATE: Davis has been charged with attempted enticement of a child, sexual misconduct or attempt involving a child under 15 and attempted statutory sodomy in the 2nd degree. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 19 at the Boone County court house.

A Columbia man was arrestedThursday, suspected of trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force says 22-year-old Zachary Davis arranged to meet a 14-year-old boy for sex.

According to a news release from Cyber Crimes Task Force, Davis started communicating with the juvenile through email onJune 8. The child was actually an undercover detective with the Cyber Crimes Task Force.

After exchanging several emails with the decoy, Davis wanted to meet at a convenience store in Columbia, so he could pick the child up to engage in sexual conduct. During the course of the conversations, David is alleged to have sent the decoy an image of his penis.

Davis, of 3705 Forum Boulevard in Columbia, was arrested on suspicion of Attempted Enticement of a Child (To be set Bond), Attempted Sexual Misconduct involving a Child ($4500 bond), Possession of Controlled Substance under 35 grams (Bond $500), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Bond $500).
