Severe Risk Monday Evening

A cold front will be approaching Mid-Missouri this evening. With temperatures as toasty as we’ve been, and with 90s in the forecast again today, there will be plenty of instability to fuel strong to severe thunderstorms in the evening hours. Wind shear looks to increase by evening for areas north of HWY 50 where there is a slight risk for severe weather. Areas shaded in yellow have the greatest threat, while areas in green are under the Marginal Threat. Most areas will to get less than 0.25″ with today’s thunderstorms. Where the strongest storms occur, a quick 0.50″ to 1″ isn’t ruled out. Large hail and damaging 60 mph winds will be the greatest threat with the stronger thunderstorms. The timing of when conditions look most favorable is 3PM-8PM this evening. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
