Columbia man, 27, drowns at Lake of the Ozarks

A Columbia man is dead this morning after drowning at the Lake of the Ozarks.

It happened Friday afternoon around 3 p.m. in Camden County at the 4.5 mile marker of the Grandglaize Arm.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Matthew A Leverett was swimming when he disappeared under the surface. He was pronounced dead just a few hours later.

This is Troop F’s first drowning death of 2016.
