State Fire Marshal investigator looking into suspicious fire at Boonville property

A State Fire Marshal investigator is looking into what officials are calling a suspicious fire at a Boonville property.

It happened around 3:00 Wednesday morning at a property in the 500 block of Second Street.

Boonville Police officers say they found a cardboard, baled for recycling, on fire at the property.

The Boonville Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly afterward and began working to extinguish the fire.

The fire was later determined to be suspicious and a State Fire Marshal Investigator responded to the scene as well.

The property owner estimated the value of the property loss at about $4,000.00.

Authorities say the fire is now being investigated as arson.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Boonville Police at 660-882-2727. Or you can call the Missouri Arson Hotline at 1-800-39-ARSON. Authorities say there may be a reward for information leading to an arrest involving arson.
