Power restored to Fayette residents

UPDATE: Fayette city leaders confirmed to ABC 17 News all of the city’s power has been restored shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

ORIGINAL STORY: Some people living in Fayette are without power right now after a transformer overheated.

At one point, the entire city was without power.

ABC 17 News called the Fayette utility office. Officials confirm they are aware of an outage. It says it started around 6 p.m.

ABC 17 News has received several calls into the newsroom from residents. One viewer tells us she’s been without power since 4 p.m.

Officials are working to cool down the transformer with sprinklers and fans. They say the power will be back on soon.

The city also wants to remind residents there is a cooling center located at Faith Family Church at 710 MO 240.
