Apartment fire displaces mid-Missouri family

Jefferson City firefighters responded to an apartment fire in the 1000 block of Buena Vista Road just before 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Upon arriving at the the two story complex, crews battled heavy smoke and extremely hot temperatures inside of the building.

The Jefferson City Fire Department tells ABC 17 News firefighters quickly put out the fire in the upper story apartment.

Investigators said they believe the fire started in the laundry area of the building.

At least one family was displaced by the blaze.

An investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
