Crews: no one hurt in crash involving semi, pickup

ABC 17 News confirmed both lanes of Highway 63 shutdown at one point Monday evening for a crash involving a pickup and a semi just south of Ashland. It was reported just before 6 p.m. near Highway A, about 20 miles south of Columbia.

Crews at the scene told ABC 17 News the brakes failed on a trailer hauling landscaping supplies. That pushed the truck into traffic, and the semi-truck swerved to avoid hitting it. The tractor trailer went across the median and stopped after hitting the cables.

Hazmat teams were called to clean up a spill from the truck’s leaking gas tank.

There were no serious injuries reported.
