New details emerge in deadly February crash

New details have emerged about a deadly February crash on Highway 63.

John Guffey, 46, of Ashland died after his car veered over a median and hit a semi-truck. Feb. 20, 2016, on Highway 63 near Vandiver Drive. ABC 17 News submitted a Missouri Sunshine Law request in April and obtained the traffic crash report of the accident this week.

According to the report, the medical examiner in the case said that blunt force injuries contributed to Guffey’s death. The report concludes by saying, “based on this information, it’s probable Driver 1 [Guffey] had a medical emergency causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash, resulting in his death.”
