Man leads Callaway County deputies on chase

A New Bloomfield man was taken into custody Friday after he led deputies with the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office on a chase.

During their patrol, deputies spotted 28-year-old Andrew Richards driving on East Simon Boulevard near U.S. Highway 54 in Holts Summit.

Deputies told ABC 17 News Richards was wanted for felony Callaway County warrants for original charges of possession of a controlled substance and property damage.

Deputies tried to stop Richards, who drove away leading them to County Road 4031. As the chase neared State Highway 94, Richards ditched his vehicle and ran away.

He led deputies through a creek before he was arrested.

Richards faces possible new charges of felony resisting arrest, possession of meth, driving while revoked and several other traffic offenses.

Richards is being held in the Callaway County Jail on a $25,000 cash only bond.
