MoDOT: No plans set for Route K

In May, a 14-year-old Columbia teen led a petition to try to make Route K safer in his neighborhood.

Adrian Levy wanted to have better signage along the highway leading up to his community and took his concerns to city council. But Route K is a MoDOT road, so it’s ultimately up to MoDOT on what can be done.

ABC 17 News checked in with MoDOT about the road. MoDOT says it does not have planned projects for at least the next five years for the road.

Some residents in the area told ABC 17 News that new construction has increased traffic in the area and that something needs to be done.

One resident said, “We just had so many new neighborhoods come in. There Is so much more traffic on Route K now, so that’s my main concern.”
