Salem man dead after crash in Cole County

A Salem man is dead after crashing his vehicle in Cole County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 74-year-old Richard Cole drove off the left side of the road for unknown reasons and crashed into a bluff.

It happened around 8:45 Wednesday night on Highway 54 near Fall Hill Road.

Troopers said another passenger, June Cole, was taken to University hospital in serious condition. ABC 17 News called University Hospital early Thursday morning to get an updated condition on June, but they couldn’t provide any information.

Richard Cole was pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway Patrol said this is the first fatal accident in Cole County for the month of June and the 24th for the year 2016.
