Missouri River nearing major flood stage at Glasgow
The Missouri River is in a moderate flood stage at Glasgow, but will get very close to major flood stage by midweek.
The latest measurement puts the water at just under 32 feet, the demarcation point between moderate and major flood levels. According to the National Weather Service, at its current level, the river could cause flooding of rural areas, including roads and homes. Once the river hits 32 feet, highways and gravel roads near Glasgow start to flood, as does the city park.
The river is expected to start going down sometime on Wednesday, though rain in this week’s forecast may affect that prediction.
The Missouri River is also at a moderate flood level in Jefferson City, though the water isn’t high enough to have a significant impact at this point. Boonville, Brunswick, and Miami are all at minor flood levels at the moment.
