City, county workers watch Missouri River levels closely
Officials with Jefferson City Public works tell ABC 17 news they have crews watching the water levels at the Missouri River very closely during heavy rain and severe storms.
The agency keeps and constantly updates records of which areas experience flooding based on how deep the river.
Tuesday, the National Weather Service reported the Missouri River crested in Jefferson City at a depth of 26.26 feet.
At that depth, Jefferson City Public Works Director Matt Morasch said theWalnut Street south of Expressway begins to flood, as do theYMCA soccer fields at 179 and State Parking at Missouri Boulevard and Main Street.
