Transportation, safety experts evaluate Missouri Boulevard

Officials from several federal, state and local agencies on Thursday conducted a safety study of Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City.

Representatives from the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the Missouri Department of Transportation, Jefferson City Public Works and interested private parties walked the length of the street, also known as Business 50, to identify safety problems.

The main concern about the boulevard is its limited access for pedestrians, cyclists and the disabled.

According to MoDOT, there were 1,084 accidents on Missouri Boulevardbetween West Main and South Ten Mile Drive from 2011 and 2014.
