Two arrested after police chase, crash in Jefferson City

A police chase ended in a car crash Tuesday afternoon in Jefferson City. Officers originally pulled over a silver GMC truck for license plate violations near Highway 50 and Eastland Drive just after 3 p.m.

After discovering the driver and passenger both had felony warrants, the pickup drove off when another unit appeared. The suspects then turned onto McCarty Street before heading southbound on Lafayette Stret to avoid some spike strips. They later made a left on Miller Street, where they hit another car at Clark Avenue. People in the other vehicle were not hurt.

Christopher Franklin, 42, is facing new possible charges of resisting arrest, plus careless and reckless driving with a revoked license. Rachel Burks, 41, also of Jefferson, was taken into custody for stealing and drug warrants.
