Walk-in clinic opens in Fulton
Fulton residents are now able to get more medical treatment in town.
SSM Health opened a new walk-in clinic Tuesday that will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The clinic will be staffed by Dr. Kimetha Fairchild, the family practitioner as well a nurse practitioner.
She said she already knows the area well.
“I did my residency at MU and I did rotations here at Fulton,” she said. “I liked the people and the town. When SSM offered me the opportunity to come here, I agreed.”
According to the Department of Health and Senior Services, rural Missouri communities like Fulton and beyond face different health and wellness issues.
There are often fewer health care choices and people might have to travel a long way to get the care they need.
Dr. Fairchild said multiple providers in areas like this are always welcome.
“I think it’s always good to have options in health care, this is a rural site and rural health is an underserved population,” she said.
The clinic offers preventative health care and chronic illness management as well as treatment for minor illnesses and injuries.
No appointments are necessary and the clinic accepts most insurance plans.
