Update: Fort Leonard Wood building all clear after evacuation due to suspicous package

UPDATE 9:04am: Officials at Fort Leonard Wood report the situation involving a suspicious package is now all clear.

In an updated news release, officials said it was actually East 8th Street that was closed. However, officials report that road is now reopened and said the situation is all clear.

ORIGINAL STORY: A road in front of the Fort Leonard Wood Marine Corps Detachment Headquarters building is closed right now and a building is evacuated as authorities investigate a suspicious package.

In a news release, officials say Minnesota Avenue near the headquarters was shut down just before 9:00 Monday morning.

It says personnel in the Marine Corps Det. Headquarters building were evacuated due to the suspicious package.

The Directorate of Emergency Services is apparently on onsite, and the situation is currently under investigation.
